Not really class related but…

Filed Under (12PHY) by Simon Robinson on 15-02-2008

One of the things I like to do in class is to share stuff that I have been reading, listening to or watching that I have found interesting and/or informative.  Po Bronson and Ashley Merryman have written another cover story for the New York Magazine.  These are the same authors who wrote the pieces on sleep that I blogged about toward the end of last year.  About a year ago Po and Ashley also wrote an article about praise and how it affects performance (you’d be surprised.)  Anyway one of the students asked me to blog it so I have.

Kids lie early, often, and for all sorts of reasons — to avoid punishment, to bond with friends, to gain a sense of control. But now there’s a singular theory for one way this habit develops: They are just copying their parents.
